JITTERY MARKET WITH MIXED CLOSE – RIS PICKS MATERIALS

Today in the market, Thursday, August 21, 2008: The stock market experienced another jittery session with a mixed closing. Rising crude oil prices and financial sector worries continue to plague the market. The S&P500 ended up +0.25% while the Nasdaq was down -0.36%. Nothing to cheer about today.

ETF/CEF Discussion: RSI likes the materials sector. I had to weed out two picks in the commodity sector. There were both up huge today; too much to consider for a “buy now” recommendation. JGT pays a large 10.78% yield and is thinly traded, so proceed with care. XRO is very thin too. Other than that, I don’t have a lot to say about these picks.

Blog you tomorrow.
